Every October, our libraries honor and celebrate the
talented El Paso artist, Tom Lea.
Tom Lea (1907-2001) was a multifaceted artist who delved into murals,
portraits, and illustrations. He also
was a war correspondent, author and historian. Visit the following website for
more information on Tom Lea:
tomleainstitute.org.
Today, children and parents in our Family Storytime participated in activities to learn about Tom Lea. Children and parents participated in stories about coyotes and the desert southwest. With their parents, children put together puzzles of Tom Lea's famous artworks depicting the history and attributes of the southwest, portraits and World War II. After sharing their finished puzzles, children drew and displayed their own art in our children's area.
