Halloween Fun @ Teen Hangout

This past Teen Hangout, teens feasted on swamp water punch and Jello brains! After dancing to Michael Jackson's Thriller on the Wii, teens munched on candy from cute treat bags. Also, they learned to create kirigami cobwebs. At the end of the evening, teens attempted to guess the amount of candy corn in the container below. The winner walked away with it! Want to guess how many?

Little Monsters @ Preschool Time

This past Wednesday, the Letter M inspired our MONSTER storytime.
After hearing some creature stories, little tykes visiting storytime became ROARING monsters when they created ghoulish hands for their craft. With Halloween around the corner, children also enjoyed candy treat bags and fun music.

Join us this upcoming Saturday for another MONSTER storytime and create your own monster!

Family Storytime Honors Tom Lea

Children who attended storytime today walked away with a cowboy hat and a wonderful coloring book of Tom Lea's "Twelve Travelers."

Not only did we gallop about the children's area but we also played Cowboy and Cowgirl Bingo.

Join us next week for a "MONSTER" storytime on Wednesday (Preschool) and Saturday (Family) @ 11am. Children and parents are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.

Preschool Storytime Honors Tom Lea

Our library storytime payed homage to the notable El Paso author and artist, Tom Lea. He designed the El Paso Public Library owl symbol. If you have visited the downtown Main Library, you will see one of his works, "Southwest," in the main lobby.

This month, the library joined the Tom Lea Institute to celebrate his contributions. Today, children heard stories of the Old West and created a Horse craft with newspaper.

NEW Children's Learning Computers

Our newly installed Little Tikes Learning Computers captured the curiosity of children and parents. The educational software offers games to build and improve critical and cognitive skills, problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking. Children have the opportunity to start their technology skills by using a mouse and keyboard. Come to the library and give them a try!

Creative Teens @ Teen Hangout

On September 29th, our teens created fun eyewear with simple supplies of pipe clearners, markers and templates.

Last week, our teens celebrated Banned Books Week by creating posters of banned and challenged books found at our library shelves. We had quite a few talented teens that were not hesitant to wield the paint brush.

Join us this week on Thursday @ 4:30pm at our library meeting room.
